At 61, Sharon Stone Recreated Her Iconic Basic InstinctPose and It’s Better Than Ever

27 years after her unforgettable performance in Basic Instinct, Sharon Stone has just recreated the movie’s most iconic moment.

In a new shoot for Vogue Portugal, the 61-year-old actress took on her infamous pose from the movie’s interrogation scene, which has remained one of her most memorable on-screen moments.

During the interview, Stone opened up about the sexism and harassment she had encountered early in her Hollywood career. “When I entered the business, the term ‘f***able’ was used to see if you were employable,” Stone said. “The studio executives sat around a large table and discussed whether or not each of us was in fact ‘f***able.’ They thought I was not.”Knowing this, Stone said, she agreed to a “strategically planned semi-naked Playboy shoot” around the time her breakout movie Total Recall came out in 1990. “I didn’t and don’t [feel like a sex symbol],” she added, but said she did what was necessary in order to establish herself in the industry.Stone also reflected on the industry’s overall bias towards the male perspective. “Most films are written by men, directed by men, made by men, with the male mentality,” she noted. “Not at all considering how women actually are, how we do think and feel. That is why many of my characters are drunk or drug addicts or crazy, that is the only way I could support their behavior honestly.”
