I can tell you my action was Grumpy old man I do what the voices in my wifes head tell her to tell me to do shirt . not due to a ‘temporary’ mindset. I unfriended these people because they are capable of supporting a human who is so vile and bigoted. Support for people like that and those who do/say nothing about it is how holocausts happen. I do agree that at some point in our lives we take what our caretakers and peers have said and we make choices about how we want to be and what we want to think. However, our need to be liked and part of the pack often make us have some views and opinions that we may not agree with but take at face value, like gay people for instance. I was raised to believe they were going to hell and abortion is murder. While my views have changed and I now believe people should have the right to choose for themselves, it was hard to break from the pack of my hometown.The way we were raised it is definitely related with our present persona and the way we see and deal with the world. Hence, the core of our thoughts and mental structures its associated to our present and past context. There will always be exceptions but our need to be liked and part of the village will often shape how we think and live.
