The first Ride for Freedom was organized in 1988 by two vets who felt the US government wasn’t doing enough to repatriate prisoners of war in Vietnam. Over 2,500 bikers participated in the first Ride for Freedom and, since then, the 4th of July event has grown to include almost 1 million participants.
