This might be ok for casual dating but think you misses the point of marriage. Of commitment. Of sacrifice. While I agree that continuing to grow will increase satisfaction for both people. There are situations, such as when babies/children are involved or someone needs to travel for work, in which nostalgia and optimism are what keeps a marriage together by Grinch and Pitbull all I need is coffee and my pittie Christmas shirt. We can’t all just “bounce” when things get boring. It should be pretty terrible before you end a marriage or leave your kids.

I agree, but why does being miserable and unhappy have to be the norm? Marriage is a two-way street. Unhappy bc your spouse has to travel for work is completely different than year-over-year unhappiness. At some point, children realize their parents don’t actually like each other. That’s not a healthy environment for children to grow. Ending a marriage that isn’t fundamentally working is sometimes the better option than forcing your children to grow up in a home with Grinch and Pitbull all I need is coffee and my pittie Christmas shirt.
