My grandpa on my mom’s side was in the navy and claimed he never saw any action I asked him about it a few times and he would always shrug his shoulders and say never say any action, the most we saw was a the boat next to us get the heck shot out of it once but we didn’t see anything else, he has been gone few years now and I did some research and from what I can tell is his boat saw some big invasion and I asked my uncle about it and said that yes he saw a lot of horrible things that he’d never wanted to talk about, he also said he received the bronze star nobody knows why either and then my other grandpa after he was an old man finally told everyone a bit of his war story but it was only the part about their plane b17 being shot and being a pow for almost a year. Guys I’m in France at the moment to commemorate the death of my grandmothers brother,Corporal Alexander Murray Renton MM .Late 44th Battalion.
